Sculpture Hill Project

The Capitol Hill Sculpture Project was an experimental public art exhibit that temporarily transformed this historically significant "Nation's Neighborhood" into a plein air gallery by displaying work of 18 local sculptors in front gardens along East Capitol Street from May to September 2004.  Planned and executed by ArtGarden Design, the project provided an intimate, yet public, venue for small to medium size sculptures while illuminating the valuable role of the front gardens as spatial mediators between the public and private lives of the community's residents.  Project’s funding was provided by DC Commission for Arts and Humanities, Capitol Hill Restoration Society, Capitol Hill Community Foundation and Washington Sculptors Group.
